Mission

The Minnesota Association of Student Leaders (MASL) is dedicated to empowering high school and middle-level students, advisors, and schools through leadership development opportunities. MASL provides a platform for student growth by fostering leadership skills, strengthening student councils and honor societies, and enriching school communities.

Through local, regional, state, and national meetings and conventions, students engage in:

  • Hands-on leadership training 
  • Participation in the election process 
  • Collaborative service projects 
  • Networking with peers from across Minnesota and beyond 

These experiences help students cultivate strong leadership abilities, civic engagement, and lasting connections.

Minnesota Association of Honor Societies (MAHS)

MAHS supports honor society members in academic and leadership excellence. Highlights include:

  • Annual State Convention: Election of the State Executive Committee, networking and idea sharing with students and advisors across the state. 
  • Division/Regional Meetings:  Students and Advisors can attend their division meetings to connect and network with schools in their geographical area.
  • Conferences/Workshops: A variety of opportunities exist for member schools to participate in leadership development.  These include the Fall Leadership Forum, New Advisor Workshop, Winter Advisor Workshop, TImberwolves Leadership Day, and the Summer Leadership Retreat. 
  • Scholarships: Four $500 scholarships available to members
  • Awards: Recognition for outstanding chapters, individual members, and advisors 

The State Executive Committee is composed of elected student officers and a state advisor-organizes conventions, oversees awards, and publishes a statewide newsletter.

Members of MAHS are also part of the Minnesota Honor Society (MHS) and Minnesota Junior Honor Society (MJrHS), which recognize achievement through official membership pins, cards, and certificates.

Minnesota Association of Student Councils (MASC)

MASL Structure

MASL is organized into eight divisions to serve schools statewide:

Capitol, Central, Hennepin, Northeast, Northern, Southeast, Southwest, and Western.
