1. Summer Leadership Retreat-Register Now!

Student leaders and advisors from across Minnesota are invited to kick off the school year at the MASL Summer Leadership Retreat July 7th – 8th, hosted on the beautiful campus of St. John’s University. This energizing retreat focuses on intentional leadership, helping teams build vision, strengthen relationships, and create meaningful plans for the year ahead.

Participants will engage in team-building activities, collaborative planning sessions, and leadership development experiences designed to inspire creativity, purpose, and impact within their schools. The retreat also offers opportunities to connect and network with other student leaders and advisors from around the state.

Students and advisors will stay in the St. John’s residence halls and enjoy meals in the university dining hall throughout the retreat. Registration is limited to 250 participants, and advisor attendance is required. Schools interested in extending their retreat experience with additional planning time may contact Trisha Bemboom at trisha@massp.org for more information.

2. Youth Engagement Opportunity

Minnesota student leaders are encouraged to submit presentation proposals for the 2026 Minnesota Prevention Program Sharing Conference Youth Track, taking place October 13 in St. Cloud. The conference provides high school students involved in prevention, leadership, and peer advocacy an opportunity to share ideas, programs, and initiatives that are making a positive impact in their schools and communities.

Students can present on topics such as substance misuse prevention, mental health awareness, school culture, leadership, and community engagement. The Youth Track is designed to help students connect with peers from across the state while building leadership and presentation skills.

Proposal submissions are due May 29, 2026. For more information or to submit a proposal, visit MN Prevention Resource Center Youth Conference Information.

4. Thank you for an Incredible Year!

Congratulations! You have either wrapped up your school year or are counting down the final few weeks, and what a year it has been.

As summer begins to peek around the corner, I simply want to wish each of you a season filled with rest, joy, laughter, and all the things you love most. I hope you have time to recharge with family and friends and take a well-deserved moment to reflect on the incredible impact you have made this year.

Thank you for the countless hours, energy, patience, and heart that you pour into your students and leadership programs. The memories, opportunities, and experiences you create for young people are things they will carry with them long after they leave your schools. Your work matters more than you know, and I am endlessly grateful for your dedication to student leadership and for being a valued part of MASL.

Thank you for believing in students, championing student voice, and continuing to build positive culture and community within your schools. Together, we are creating something truly special across Minnesota.

Here’s to sunshine, late summer nights, time to recharge, and the excitement of all that is ahead. We cannot wait to continue this work with you next year!

Have a fantastic summer!
